Tarangire
Tarangire National Park is one of Northern Tanzania’s most rewarding safari destinations and an excellent first stop on a Northern Circuit safari.
The park is particularly famous for its impressive elephant population and enormous baobab trees that create one of Tanzania’s most distinctive safari landscapes.
During the dry season, wildlife gathers around the Tarangire River and other permanent water sources, creating excellent opportunities for game viewing. Visitors may encounter elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, antelopes and a remarkable variety of birds.
Tarangire is also an excellent destination for travelers who want a quieter safari experience away from some of the busier areas of the Northern Circuit.
Its combination of wildlife, scenery and iconic baobabs makes Tarangire a wonderful addition to both short and extended Tanzania safaris.
Best For: Elephants, baobabs, wildlife photography, birdwatching and quieter safari experiences.
